"The apology, however belated, would have pleased Davy Crockett. He had once fought together with Jackson against the British and their Creeks allies. But for opposing the Cherokee removal, Crockett had lost his seat in Congress. Although he regretted his defeat, he said that at least his vote would "not make me ashamed on the last day of judgment."
I find his example worth remembering, along with a hope that no future generation need apologize for what we are saying or doing today." By A.J. Langguth
I read this interesting article on the news today. Especially the last part quoted above touched my soul even more than the previous horrible news of the article.
I've seen a movie of Davy Crocket but never knew he had been involved in politics too, and never knew he was never afraid to fight for what is right and noble.
He might have been king of the wild frontier but his heart resembled the King of the heavens on this point and maybe on many other occasions.
He would rather suffer shame on earth and lose his congressional seat than lose his seat in heaven.
How many of us would do the same? Hmm, anybody home? Yes God is speaking to all of us.

Can we withstand the pressure of the world to maintain a seat in heaven or do we wallow in the easiness as people pleasers without the guts to be otherwise?
Tough question? Bugsy would say" What's up doc? What's it gonna be? A carrot of heavenly gold or just a rotten orange carrot that goes from dust to dust.
Blessings and love in Christ,
Monique
