Introduction The Holy Spirit, the third person in the Holy Trinity, came to us on Pentecost. Who is the Holy Spirit really, what's He like? Why do we need Him?
He rushed to earth on the day of Pentecost and came like a violent wind, then He burst into flames. He's filled with love for us and wanted so badly to come to us. I can imagine the Holy Trinity sitting around the throne discussing the departure of The Spirit to earth. The Father, the Son and the Spirit are united in love for us. It just makes me feel so wonderful to know that they love us so much. It must have been a glorious day in heaven when the Holy Spirit was given permission to descend to us. Once again mankind could be united with God. “And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden.” Genesis 3:8 Jesus came to cleanse the bride from sin and on Pentecost He was reunited with her in the Spirit. His love came like a tornado; He missed the communion with mankind in the garden. So this unseen person came to reveal God's heart and mind, to us and to shower us with His tender loving care. Because we are not used to invisible persons, we tend to treat the Holy Spirit like a force without feelings. Like an element of God. “the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.” John 14:17
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness.” Galatians 5:22 Fruit grows on trees. The Holy Spirit is the tree of life- giving fruit. The Holy Spirit is God! He's a real person with real emotions. It's sad to say but we are often the ones who grieve Him and He sheds many unseen tears because of us. “And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.” Ephesians 4:30 He speaks and even sings; “The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing .” Zephaniah 3:17 “He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.” John 16:13 Imagine God singing a song about you! Wow! He rejoices over us! He creates and sustains His creation; “The Spirit of God has made me; the breath of the Almighty gives me life.” Job 33 He teaches us about Gods will and keeps us safe from harm. “But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.” John 14:26 “The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him— the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of power, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD.”Isaiah 11:2 He is wise and understanding, powerful and has knowledge about all things. This sure sounds like a person to me!
Chapter 3 How to meet this wonderful person [back to top] After reading all of this, I'm sure you're eager to meet this wonderful invisible person. “If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” Luke 11:13 He will come and enter your heart. Worship is the key to experience a fresh anointing from The Holy Spirit everyday. So what are you waiting for! Come and taste that the Lord is good! I've got a glass of fresh cool fountain water for you. Care for a drink? Love, Monique
