THE HOLY SPIRIT

Chapter 1 | 2 | 3 |

Introduction

The Holy Spirit, the third person in the Holy Trinity, came to us on Pentecost.
He's such a special person. Jesus said that He had to leave because otherwise He could not send us the Holy Spirit.
Jesus would like nothing better than to remain with us physically, but sending us the Spirit was of greater importance.

Who is the Holy Spirit really, what's He like? Why do we need Him?
We know so much about Jesus, does the bible reveal the personality of the Holy Spirit?Yes it certainly does!

Chapter 1                The unseen Person     [back to top]

The Lord Jesus told Nicodemus that the Spirit was like the wind.
You can't see the wind but you can feel it and see the result of its actions.

I like it when the wind blows through my hair, you can see my hair moving touched by this invisible element. A soft breeze in spring is so refreshingly sweet.
It's so romantic! I can almost smell the scent of love.

He rushed to earth on the day of Pentecost and came like a violent wind, then He burst into flames. He's filled with love for us and wanted so badly to come to us.

When you love somebody passionately you want nothing more than to be with this person as soon as possible.
When the moment comes for you to be with this person, you will run to his/her arms and never let go. The flame of love consumes your heart, spirit and body.

I can imagine the Holy Trinity sitting around the throne discussing the departure of The Spirit to earth. The Father, the Son and the Spirit are united in love for us.
They all love us so passionately and are willing to do anything in order to make us whole and happy.

It just makes me feel so wonderful to know that they love us so much.
I love the Holy Trinity.

It must have been a glorious day in heaven when the Holy Spirit was given permission to descend to us. Once again mankind could be united with God.

God's Spirit was removed from mankind when sin entered the world.
It was like a divorce. God had to divorce His unfaithful sinful bride and their spiritual unity fell apart. He used to walk with them in the cool of the day, the soft gentle breeze of the Holy Spirit.

“And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden.” Genesis 3:8

Jesus came to cleanse the bride from sin and on Pentecost He was reunited with her in the Spirit. His love came like a tornado; He missed the communion with mankind in the garden.

So this unseen person came to reveal God's heart and mind, to us and to shower us with His tender loving care.

Because we are not used to invisible persons, we tend to treat the Holy Spirit like a force without feelings. Like an element of God.
But He does have feelings, He truly is a person.
Sometimes He whispers in my ear so tenderly.

“the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.” John 14:17

Chapter 2                     The Feelings of God        [back to top]

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness.” Galatians 5:22

Fruit grows on trees. The Holy Spirit is the tree of life- giving fruit.
He is love, joy peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness.

The Holy Spirit is God! He's a real person with real emotions.
He's so tender and full of love.
Just like you and me He is able to experience pain also, not physically for He's Spirit but, emotionally.

It's sad to say but we are often the ones who grieve Him and He sheds many unseen tears because of us.

“And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.” Ephesians 4:30

 He speaks and even sings;

“The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing .” Zephaniah 3:17

“He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.” John 16:13

Imagine God singing a song about you! Wow! He rejoices over us!
He must have the most beautiful voice in heaven and on earth.

I heard Him singing to me in a dream, it was beautiful. He sang about a Holy Rose. But when I woke up I could not remember what it sounded like anymore.

I could only remember ‘Holy Rose'. Then His Spirit explained to me that I had to spread the scent of God's unconditional love like a Holy Rose.
I am overwhelmed by the thought that He considers me to be a Holy Rose.
He transforms us into Holy Roses.

 He creates and sustains His creation;

“The Spirit of God has made me; the breath of the Almighty gives me life.” Job 33

He teaches us about Gods will and keeps us safe from harm.

“But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.” John 14:26

“The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him— the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of power, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD.”Isaiah 11:2

He is wise and understanding, powerful and has knowledge about all things.
He counsels us and teaches us to respect and obey God the Father.

This sure sounds like a person to me!

Chapter 3     How to meet this wonderful person [back to top]

After reading all of this, I'm sure you're eager to meet this wonderful invisible person.

Sadly enough I can't arrange a date for you with the Holy Spirit.
You'll have to do it yourself.
Fortunately He's always in the neighborhood, you just need to call Him up in your prayers. Your cry will reach Him faster than an email.

“If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” Luke 11:13

He will come and enter your heart.
He will renew your mind and create in you the image of Christ.
He will prepare you to meet your heavenly bridegroom, just like Hegai had to prepare Esther to be the king's bride.

Worship is the key to experience a fresh anointing from The Holy Spirit everyday.
You need His touch daily.

I just love His sweet touch. It runs through me like electricity.
I often wondered why He keeps filling me with His anointing everyday.
But as I examine my life I can see that He has brought me closer and closer to God's heart. I can hear His voice more clearly and I am more sensitive to His guidance.
It's easier to know what decisions to make and which way I should follow.
It removes the stress of every day life.

So what are you waiting for! Come and taste that the Lord is good!
Drink of His Fountain of life and become a fountain of living water yourself.

I've got a glass of fresh cool fountain water for you. Care for a drink?

Love, Monique
