Mon amies, is 'my friends' in English, but it sounds a lot like my enemies. Sometimes things are not what they seem.
I wonder where the word enemy came from, the sound of it already gives the meaning of the word.
An enemy is often viewed from the perspective of good against evil, so everything that is opposite to good is in a way of saying an enemy.
The first enemy, the opposite of good, is satan. He opposed God after he became proud of himself and thought he did not need God anymore and wanted to be God himself.
So God ordained hell for him but set a date of entry for him after the millennium of peace. (the book of revelation).
Then God created people and satan immediately opposed God's creation and tries to make them enemies of God also by opposing what is good.
Now what is good? Pontius Pilate also struggled with that question as he asked Christ what 'truth' was.
God is truth and God is good, the two things are similar in origin for they spring forth out of God's being.
For people who know God's word, good, is loving Him and others, like they love themselves, based on the commandments of God.
For those who don't know God's word, 'good' is what their conscious tells them, but from God's point of view that isn't necessarily 'good'.
For some may have a disturbed conscious that may have been influenced through several circumstances.
Commonly viewed all people would say it’s bad to have enemies.
And so would God if Adam and Eve had not sinned, but since they did, we live in a fallen world where God says that it’s good to be hated and have enemies.
For when we abide by His will to love like He loves, the devil will always oppose us. That is the sign that we are God’s followers and followers of what is good according to God’s Word.
When we don’t have enemies we are not on the right road. It’s an exciting road.
The life of a true child of God is never boring, there’s always the clashing of swords on the road to heaven.
The most humble followers of God always had the most enemies.
Just think of Jeremiah, Moses, the shepherd David, Mary and Joseph, Mary Magdalene and all who loved God and followed Him.
Since there are few who truly love God and others like they love themselves, they will always be outnumbered by their enemies.
But then again to God this is a good and pleasing thing and He is proud of us when people oppose us because we follow His loving way..
As our conscious and the Spirit of God speak to us to try to show us what is good and what is wrong, God and the devil watch closely to see what we will become, their friend or their enemy.
Simply said will we end up in heaven or in hell.
Like I said at the beginning of this writing, things are not like they seem. It's in fact good to have enemies when you love God and it's good to be an enemy of what is wrong.
Wishing you an exciting life on the road to heaven.
