I just read something remarkable in the bible in the gospel of Matthew. I probably must have read it many times but now the words just seem to leap from the pages.
"But woe to that man who betrays the Son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not been born." Matthew 26:24b
"When Judas, who had betrayed him, saw that Jesus was condemned, he was seized with remorse and returned the thirty silver coins to the chief priests and the elders.
"I have sinned," he said, "for I have betrayed innocent blood."
"What is that to us?" they replied. "That's your responsibility."
So Judas threw the money into the temple and left. Then he went away and hanged himself". Matthew 27:3-5
Can you imagine Judas admitting he had sinned and feeling sorry for what he had done?
But while he felt sorry there seemed to be no forgiveness for Him from God, it's because he had sinned against the Holy Spirit.
"Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come." Matthew 12:32
He had been living a life of deceit even while walking along with Jesus and I am sure the Holy Spirit must have let him see that he was sinning for he heard all the righteous words of Christ, but he never repented.
Sinning against the Holy Spirit is not a one time sin, it's an accumulation of sins done while claiming to be saved and walking with Christ.
People who are not saved by Christ commit sins, but they can never sin against the Holy Spirit, for that is only possible when you have come to know Christ and His Spirit.
Carelessness
Esau the brother of Jacob sinned against the Holy Spirit for he knew the Word of God through his father Isaac and all the blessings and responsibilities that came with being the firstborn.
But he did not care about it and sinned many times and one time too many.
For when he came to ask forgiveness from God again, he was not forgiven ever again and he lost his birthright blessings from God. It was given to Jacob who later was named Israel.
Ananias and Sapphira
These two sinned also against the Holy Spirit because they pretended to do something good to be honored by people, but they were lying.
God never asked them to do what they said they were doing, donating all their money to the fellow Christians.
They were free to spend it as they wished, but then they lied about giving it all to Him while they were claiming to be walking in truth with God.
There's not much written about their past but there must have been accumulations of deceit also.
The sons of Eli
The sons of the priest Eli who were supposed to be serving God in the temple, sinned terribly and God did not even want to forgive them anymore so he allowed their hearts to be hardened by sin until he took away their life.
Holy Spirit grievers of the modern age
Jim Jones and others who lived and live in our modern society started out right, serving God and tasting the powers of the coming age when God will rule the world from Jerusalem.
But along the way they disobeyed God's word and followed other spirits, probably their own and fell into sin after sin and in so doing sinned against the Holy Spirit.
"It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age, if they fall away, to be brought back to repentance, because to their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace." Hebrews 6:4-6
Who are you?
Are you walking in deceit claiming to be a servant of Christ, performing miracles in His name and speaking in His wisdom but sinning at the same time?
Are you singing about His grace while abusing it through sinning day after day?
Gods gifts are irrevocable so He won't take away the talents and anointing He gave to those who once loved Him. But He Himself does not live in the heart of such a person anymore; His love has fallen away from such a person. They have become strangers to Him.
"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?'
Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!' Matthew 7:21-23
Revelations 3 says that God has a Book of Life where the angels write down all the names of those who are saved by believing in Christ.
But when the saved, sin against the Holy Spirit they are blotted out of the Holy Book of Life.
God says be holy for I am holy and without this holiness no one will see God or be with Him.
If you are not walking with God in a Holy way day after day you are sinning against the Holy Spirit and you can never be forgiven in all eternity if you don't stop right now and repent, that is if it is not too late already.
Well goodnight and blessings in the name of the Holy Father, Son and Holy Spirit
